The Kebbi State Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, has facilitated export of local manufactured goods worth over two billion naira through Kamba border.

The Area Comptroller, Joseph Attah, who made this known at the command’s monthly press briefing said, the export of local goods was achieved through strict enforcement of extant rules.

Comptroller Attah assured the command’s readiness to continue to ensure that, those who choose to import or export goods through Kamba border do so with the highest level of compliance to lay down regulations.

Equally, the Comptroller, told newsmen that, the command also generated over One hundred and Sixty two million naira as revenue from import duty for the month of October.

According to him, in their undaunted effort to nip smuggling activities within the nook and crannies of the Command, he directed officers and men of the command on operatives to intensify vigilance across vast bushes and water ways within the state.

He said, the Command made a seizures of 284 cel (laptop size) of cannabis sativa, 4 used vehicles, 139 bales of second hand cloths, 345 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 2,250 liters of PMS as well as 38 cartons of whitening cream and 80 pieces of solar batteries with a paid duty of over Seventy eight million naira.

“Gentlemen of the press, you will agree with me that while other seized items are financially quantifiable, we can not quantify the level of damage dangerous drugs and other substances cause in the society. Such sunstances when unleashed in the society serves as catalyst for all major crimes we see in our society”.

Comptroller Attah, however reminded and warned people that always obstruct duty of the personnel by signaling to smugglers which is a crimes under section (11) and (77) of Customs and Excise Management (CEMA) and the Command will not hesitate to invoke the wrath of the section of CEMA against any person or group whose intention or action is to prevent or limit their operations.

He assured the command’s doggedness in the pursure of the mandate of suppression of smuggling undeterred in spite of the challenges they sometimes encounter from citizens who support the criminals due to ignorance or greed for financial benefits.
