The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has congratulated the people of Zamfara State on the 30th anniversary of the state’s creation, reaffirming his commitment to its continued development.

Matawalle stated this in a message marking Zamfara’s 30th anniversary and Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

In a statement, issued in Gusau by the Publicity Secretary of the Matawalle Political Standing Committee, MPSC, Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau.

The Minister commended the first Military Administrator of the state, Colonel Jibril Bala Yakubu, as well as former civilian governors, for their contributions to the development of Zamfara at different stages of its history.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the elders and other stakeholders who worked for the creation of the state, while thanking the late former Head of State, General Sani Abacha, for creating Zamfara State.

Matawalle said the 30th anniversary provides an opportunity for the people of the state to reflect on its development, challenges and achievements over the past three decades.

He called for peaceful coexistence, unity and togetherness among the people, stressing that collective efforts were necessary for the progress of the state.

The Minister reiterated his commitment to working towards the development of Zamfara and assured the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal of his continued cordial working relationship.

He also called on the people of the state to continue to support one another and embrace peace, unity and hard work for the development of Zamfara.

Matawalle noted that successive administrations had contributed to the development of education, healthcare, economic empowerment, security and political awareness in the state.

He commended the people of Zamfara for their support, commitment and perseverance in the face of the security challenges that have affected the state for more than a decade.

The Minister further called on the people of the state to cooperate with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the All Progressives Congress, APC.

He commended President Tinubu for the ongoing Zaria-Funtua-Gusau-Sokoto dual carriageway project, saying its completion would enhance economic activities, transportation and security across the North-West.

Matawalle expressed optimism that the APC would make significant gains in Zamfara and other North-West states during the 2027 general elections.

While celebrating Zamfara’s 30th anniversary and Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, he urged Nigerians to pray for President Tinubu and leaders at all levels to continue implementing policies and programmes aimed at national development.

He also called on Nigerians to support the Tinubu-Shettima ticket in the 2027 general elections, saying continuity in governance would help sustain ongoing programmes and projects.
