Police Tactical Operatives have rescued 97 kidnapped victims in Zamfara State.

Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP Ayuba Elkana who made this known to newsmen at the Command’s headquarters in Gusau, said the victims were rescued from Shinkafi and Tsafe Forests

According to the CP, 68 Victims rescued from Shinkafi Forest who had been in captivity for over 3 months include; 33 male adults, 7 male children, 3 female children and 25 women including pregnant and nursing mothers respectively.

He noted that they were kidnapped victims held from Magarya, Maradun, Gusau of Zamfara State and Sabon Birni of Sokoto State.

The CP said other sets of 29 kidnapped victims were freed from Tsafe Local Government, saying they were kidnapped over 60 days from their villages of Adarawa, Gana and Bayawuri in Rijiya District of Gusau LGA.

They include 25 females including pregnant and nursing mothers as well as 4 male children.

CP Ayuba Elkana said victims were abducted by bandits Kingpins, Bello Turji and Ado Aleru respectively. Noting that, the rescue followed extensive pressure mounted as a result of ongoing military operation around the camp of the notorious bandit Kingpins.

Ayuba Elkana added that the rescued victims will be debriefed and handed them over to the state government for onward reuniting with their families.
