The lead Counsel, Mr Femi Falana SAN in the case of alleged collection of Dollar bribe by the immediate past governor of Kano state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, says the former governor is no longer immune from prosecution and must be investigated.

Making the disclosure shortly after legal deliberation at the federal high court Kano.

According toMr Femi Falana SAN, “Every Nigerian apart from those who have immunity can be arrested, investigated and prosecuted if there is evidence, the immunity of the former governor expired on May 29th , but he want to continue to enjoy immunity in perpetuity that’s not allowed under our Law

“You have to report yourself when invited, and you must be prepared to defend your integrity”.

Falana said the prayer of the former governor seeking the federal high court to restraint the Kano Anti Graft Agency from arresting and investigating him and his lieutenants even if there is corruption allegation on them was not appropriate.

On his part, the Counsel to the former Governor, Mike Gbowega (SAN )said they filed a fundamental right action to protect the right of the former governor of Kano state.

“One of the issues they raised was the fact that in our application we sought to protect not only the right of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje but also the rights of his family members and his political appointees, there argument is that we cannot do that but our argument is that the rule of law allowed us to do so”.

After listening to the two parties , Justice A.M. Liman adjourned the case to 22th September for ruling.

It could be recalled that the former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje through his counsel Barrister B. Hemba had filed an exparte motion before the court, seeking the court to restrain the Anti Graft Agency from arresting, investigating and inviting him over the alleged dollar video.
