The National President Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ Comrade Aisha K. Ibrahim has inaugurated the New Executives of NAWOJ Kaduna State Chapter.

The inauguration which took place at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Secretariat in Kaduna State, had the National President, National Secretary, Wasila Ladan and Member of the board of trustee North West Zone, Comrade Halima Musa present for the inauguration.

In her Speech, the National President of NAWOJ, Comrade Aisha K. Ibrahim asked the congregation to observe one minute silence in respect to the late president, Muhammad Buhari and late Comrade Salamatu Babatunde.

She expressed her gratitude to the entire leadership of NUJ Kaduna Council, veterans, past leaders of the NUJ and NAWOJ in Kaduna State for gracing the occasion and all their efforts in pushing NAWOJ forward.

“I also want to appreciate the immediate past Chairperson, Comrade Fatima Aliyu Mahuta who sadly is bereaved we pray Allah to repose the Soul of the deceased in peace, Amin. We particularly wish to express our profound gratitude to the outgone Secretary Maureen Sheyin who had served NAWOJ diligently for the past six years and indeed NAWOJIANS. To other past leaders of the Association and by extension the NUJ, we thank you immensely for all your efforts”, she said.

Comrade Aisha explained that her visit to Kaduna was also a way to appreciate the Council for the role they play during her election victory, saying that the National Secretariat intends to host a massive program in Kaduna State that would bring about over one hundred women Journalists in Kaduna.

The National President Congratulated Hajiya Farida Abubakar Ahmed and others who have been appointed by the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani and prayed that God gives them the wisdom and strength to discharge their duties effectively.

Comrade Aisha assured members of the Association that her promise during her campaign to ensure the land for the National Secretariat would be secured, maintaining that the Association under her watch now has a functional website and have secured partnerships with various organizations and would continue to do more.

She said they were able to bring peace and stability in NAWOJ and charged the New EXCO in Kaduna to maintain the tempo.

While congratulating the New Executives led by Comrade Saharu Jibrin Maidoki, urged all members of the chapter to remain united in peace and stability.

Comrade Aisha K. Ibrahim who recounted her emergence and struggles all through her positions held in NUJ and NAWOJ, appreciated the support she has gotten from members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Nation wide and urged NUJ Kaduna State Council to extend such support to NAWOJ Kaduna.

In her address, the North West Zonal Secretary of NAWOJ, Comrade Daharatu Ahmed Aliyu who spoke on behalf of the Zone A Vice President, Comrade Rabi M. Gwadabawa welcomed the National President and her team for the visit to Kaduna and prayed for a peaceful and enjoyable stay in the State.

In a remark NUJ Chairman Kaduna State Council, Comrade Abdulgafar Alabelewe appreciates the National President of NAWOJ, saying her coming is a way to show the New Executives to do the right thing.

He applauded her, for coming to Kaduna State and urged members to draw lessons from the speech of the National President.

According to him the Council under his watch has cordial relationship with the NAWOJ and he has assured that all committee constituted in the Council include members of NAWOJ, would be seamless working together.

On his part, the National President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN Comrade Isaiah Benjamin said he has always been part of NAWOJ for a very long time, saying he would continue to support them.

He applauded the National President for all the efforts she has been putting in the Association since her victory and urged her to do more.

In their goodwill messages, the Former Vice President of NUJ North West Zone, Comrade Yusuf Idris and the State Chairperson of League of Women Voters of Nigeria, NILOWV Kaduna State Chapter, Barrister Julie Ariahu and President of Rotary Club Kaduna Metropolitan, Rotarian Lukeman Babatunde appreciated the National President, Comrade Aisha K. Ibrahim, National Secretary of NAWOJ, Comrade Wasila Ladan and Member National Board of Trustee of NAWOJ, Comrade Halima Musa for coming to Kaduna State for the inauguration saying their presence have made a difference.

On her part, the Executive Director Radio, Kaduna State Media Corporation, KSMC Hajiya Farida Abubakar Ahmed who spoke on behalf of her Managing Director congratulated the new EXCO for emerging, and urged them to run and inclusive government by making sure that every NAWOJIANS in Kaduna State have a sense of belonging.

Hajiya Farida commended the Electorial Committee Chaired by Hajiya Falmata Mohammed for a job well done, saying that KSMC is open to partnership with all organisations.

In her inaugural Speech, the New Chairperson Comrade Sahura Jibrin Maidoki expressed her appreciation to the out gone EXCO and assured that her led Executive would foster inclusive and transparent leadership and promised to work hard to build a better and stronger NAWOJ Kaduna State Chapter.

The new NAWOJ Kaduna State Executives who were sworn-in by the National President, had Sahura Jibrin Maidoki as the Chairperson, Amina Anebi as the Vice Chairperson, Hadiza Bello Abdullahi as the Secretary, Ruth Queen Barnabas as the Assistant Secretary, Salamatu Abubakar as the Treasurer, Murjanatu Abdullahi as the Financial Secretary and Naomi Ochanya Anzaku as the Auditor.

The event ended with the closing remarks by the National Secretary of NAWOJ, Comrade Wasila Ladan.

Presentation of Certificates to the New EXCO by the National President of NAWOJ, Congress and Close door meeting with the New Executives, Past and Present Leaders of NUJ Kaduna State Council were part of the activities that climaxed the event.
