The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) has awarded a contract for the purchase and installation of 50 kilowatts Medium Wave transmitters for the Kaduna National Station, aimed at upgrading and enhancing broadcast quality and service delivery.

Director General of the FRCN, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, disclosed this during an inspection tour of ongoing renovation works at the Kaduna National Station of the organization.

Shindong Bala reports that the Director General said the intervention is part of deliberate efforts by the current management to reposition Radio Nigeria stations across the country.

Dr. Bulama recalled that upon assumption of office, he made a commitment to improve facilities at the Kaduna National Station stressing that with the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the facilitation of the supervising Minister, funds were secured to execute the key projects.

According to him, the newly approved 50 kilowatts Medium Wave transmitters will significantly boost signal strength and coverage across most parts of Northern Nigeria.

Dr. Bulama further revealed that a separate contract has been awarded for the installation of a 160 KVA solar power system at Jaji transmitting Station to ensure stable electricity supply while deployment would commence once adequate security arrangements are confirmed at the site.

He noted that similar remodeling gesture will be replicated in Ibadan, Enugu, Lagos National stations and also Abuja.

According to the FRCN Boss, renovation of the Kaduna Supreme Fm studio is ongoing, with some FM and streaming studios already upgraded, while others are scheduled for completion in phases.

He expressed optimism that the 2026 budget would be fully implemented to enable the completion of pending projects in Kaduna and other national stations in Ibadan, Enugu, Lagos, and the corporation’s headquarters.

He urged staff and stakeholders to support government’s efforts by ensuring proper maintenance of facilities and attracting partnerships and patronage that would further strengthen the corporation.

Earlier, the Acting Zonal Director of Kaduna National Station Mallam Lawal Ali Garba expressed hope that by the end of the year, the Kaduna National Station would witness significant transformation.

The Inspection tour took place at almost all the offices of Kaduna National Station including, the Marketing Department, Hostel, Studio, Library and the Jaji Transmitting Station.
