Stakeholders of the Two major opposition political parties PDP and Labor Party in Kaduna and some members of APC have unanimously endorsed the African Democratic Congress ADC as a platform for all Political Opposition parties in the 2027 Election.

In joint News briefing by Mallam Salihu Mohammed Lukman of the APC and Mr. John Ayuba, a Deputy Governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2023 elections, promised to build a truly strong opposition party that will prioritise reforms in meeting the needs of the people.

According to Mallam Salihu Lukman, negotiations are ongoing at national level to conclude the nomination of members of the National Interim leadership of ADC as the political party platform for the Coalition for 2027 elections.

Mallam Lukman noted that any national project of rescuing democracy must necessarily be oriented to unite citizens to produce fresh air that can guarantee peaceful coexistence and cooperation among citizens.

“Our desire and belief is that the preoccupation of the Coalition and ADC in Kaduna State must be to mobilise citizens across the State to respect one another based on recognition of our differences through accommodation and tolerance. Acknowledging that divisive politics in the state is the dominant practice, any national project of rescuing democracy must necessarily be oriented to unite citizens in Kaduna State if at all it is to produce fresh air that can guarantee peaceful coexistence and cooperation among citizens, which is fundamental for any form of development and societal progress”

He therefore appeal to all citizens aspiring to join the Coalition and ADC from all the 23 Local Governments to locate the membership registration points and register when the time is announced.

On his part, Mr. John Ayuba Said the coalition is a child of necessity to prevent Nigeria from becoming a one party state with the attending hunger, rampant Deaths joblessness and poverty across all states and people of the country.

Mr. John Ayuba emphasized under the present state of things it will difficult for the Independent National Electoral Commission to register any political party because it is in the firm grips of the Present Government.

“The approach that the ADC has adopted is a child of necessity. We are all aware that the present government is not as democratic as the PDP was up to 2014. That’s why it allowed the registration of an amalgamation of parties to form the APC. Today I can bet you if you try to register a party like that, the government will not allow it because they are fully in control of INEC”

He submitted that if all processes are completed members of the various political parties will now be fully consummated as ADC Members.

‘We are telling people that before we conclude the process of getting the ADC to the stage that we want it to be, that is before registration, otherwise we will claim a model of things and say we are all registered members. But we know that the registers are not ready. But we are not going to wait until the registers are ready before we come up and tell the public what we want to do. Because time is of essence. And that is why we have adopted, you will find some of us here, we are still in our existing parties. The coalition is still in the process of formation. Once it is completely consummated, you will not have a double membership because we are aware of the laws of the country. You can’t belong to two political parties”

Among the three leaders of the Coalition that endorsed the Briefing are Sen. Nenadi Usman, National Chairman of Labour Party, Sen. Datti Baba Ahmed, 2023 Vice Presidential Candidate of Labour Party and Alhaji Shuaibu Idris Mikati of the APC.
