The Chairman of Babura Local Government, Alhaji Hamisu Muhammad Garu, has directed the Farmers and Herdsmen Conflict Resolution Committee to take immediate action in reclaiming government-owned forest and grazing reserves that have been encroached upon.
He gave the directive while receiving members of the Jigawa State Farmers and Herdsmen Conflict Resolution Committee who paid an official visit to the local government area as part of a state wide peace building tour.
Speaking during the visit, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Farmers and Herdsmen Conflict, Alhaji Baki Muhammad Amaryawa, emphasized that the tour was aimed at strengthening peaceful coexistence among farming and pastoral communities across the state.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to preventing conflict and fostering mutual understanding through dialogue and cooperation.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Salisu Abdullahi, called on local government councils, especially those bordering other countries, to prioritize the clearing of road reserves.
He noted that this will enhance accessibility, security, and support coordinated land use to prevent further conflict between farmers and herders.
Radio Nigeria reports that, Babura Local Government Council also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting all state initiatives designed to ensure lasting peace and sustainable development in the area.
