Hundreds of houses and property worth millions of naira have been destroyed by flood in Kontagora local government council of Niger state.  

Director General Niger state Emergency Management Agency NSEMA , Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Inga stated this in a telephone interview with Radio Nigeria in Minna.

Alhaji Ibrahim Inga explained that the agency has been directed by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to investigate the matter with a view to coming up with better ways of addressing such problems in addition to rendering some assistance to the victims to ameliorate their hardship.

The Director General who described the incident as devastating, called on residents to be wary on where and how they build their houses to avoid being affected by the ugly trend.

Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Inga who advised people of the state to also stick to NIMET warning alert which he said in most cases were accurate , however added that no live has been lost in connection to the flood.
