The Chairmen of the 14 Local Government Areas in Zamfara State have been urged to organise a special event to honour individuals described as key advisers and associates of Governor Dauda Lawal for their contributions to the development of the state.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Namadi Isa Kasuwar Daji, made the call while briefing newsmen in Gusau, the state capital.

He identified Professor Kabiru Mato, Ibrahim Modibbo, Ali Baba and Barau Mu’azu as among those whose contributions, according to him, have supported the administration’s development agenda.

Kasuwar Daji pointed out that, good advisers are essential to effective leadership, arguing that, trusted individuals who share a leader’s vision can contribute significantly to the implementation of government policies and programmes.

He maintained that, the individuals should be recognised and honoured for their contributions to infrastructure and other development projects across the state.

The governor’s aide also dismissed concerns about some of the individuals for not being indigenous to Zamfara, saying that, people from outside the state had historically contributed to its development.

He cited the example of an Italian national, Mr. Italco, who worked in Zamfara’s water sector, as well as previous administrations that engaged non-indigenes in government and other development activities.

Kasuwar Daji who is also Former Deputy Speaker Zamfara State House of Assembly therefore urged the people of Zamfara to focus on the contributions of individuals to the state rather than their places of origin.

He said the achievements recorded by the Dauda Lawal administration over the past three years had involved the contributions of various individuals working with the government.

The Special Assistant further argued that Governor Lawal appointed people he trusted and believed could help his administration achieve its objectives.

According to him, Governor Lawal is not the first governor to engage people from outside Zamfara to work with his administration.

He also urged the local government chairmen to consider ways of formally recognising the individuals as indigines and allowing them to identify with local government areas of their choice.

On the 2027 governorship election, Kasuwar Daji expressed confidence in Governor Lawal’s chances, saying that, the administration had recorded significant achievements in its first three years.

He urged the people of Zamfara to support the governor’s continued leadership, while telling opposition politicians that there was no vacancy at the Zamfara State Government House until Governor Lawal completes his tenure.

He further argued that the opposition governorship candidates had yet to present an agenda that, in his view, offered something fundamentally different from what the Lawal administration had already undertaken.
