The Kaduna State House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law.

Presiding over the plenary, the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Yusuf Dahiru Liman, disclosed that there were no major changes or adjustments to the proposed budget of over ₦985 billion as presented by the state governor.

Presenting the report, the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation and Implementation, Hon. Yunusa Shehu Pambegua, who represents Kubau Constituency, explained that following submissions from Civil Society Organisations and budget defence sessions by ministries, departments and agencies, the House retained the allocation of 71 per cent for capital expenditure amounting to over ₦698 billion, and 29 per cent for recurrent expenditure estimated at over ₦286 billion.

Hon. Pambegua noted that the key components of the budget align with the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Kaduna State.

He further stated that after due consideration, realignment and approval of internal adjustments to the draft budget, the document was harmonised in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

The Chairman of the Appropriation and Implementation Committee urged residents of the state to continue supporting people-oriented policies and programmes in order to enjoy greater dividends of democracy.

The bill was unanimously adopted by members of the House after passing third reading and now awaits executive assent to become law.
