The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on Muslims across the country to begin the sighting of the new moon of Safar tomorrow, Thursday, July 24, 2025, which corresponds to the 29th of Muharram, 1447 AH, in the Islamic calendar.

In a statement signed by the chairman Advisory Committee on Islamic Religious affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto state, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, Wazirin Sokoto says if sighted, the information should be forwarded to the nearest district or village head for onward commutation to the Sultan.

The statement cited that the Monthly Observation of the moon, clarifies the Islamic Calendar within a given year, thereby making the month of Ramadan moon sightings more acceptable to the general Muslims in the Country.
