‎The All Progressives Congress (APC) has mourned the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as “an iconic patriot and a towering symbol of integrity.”

‎In a tribute released on Sunday, July 13, the ruling party said Buhari’s journey from the battlefield to the ballot box reshaped Nigeria’s democratic destiny.

‎According to the party, President Buhari was an enigma, a no-nonsense soldier who later became a soft-spoken democrat, and in 2015, made history by defeating an incumbent president.

‎”From leading the Petroleum Trust Fund to serving as military Head of State, and later as a two-term civilian President, Buhari’s life, APC noted, was anchored in simplicity, discipline, and patriotic service.

‎”‎His bold role in uniting opposition forces under the APC banner in 2013, the party added, redefined Nigeria’s political structure and laid the groundwork for lasting change.

‎The party also hailed his electoral triumph in 2015 as “a watershed moment in Nigeria’s democracy, and praised his legacy of democratic resilience despite his military background.

‎It expressed deep condolences to his family, President Bola Tinubu, the people of Katsina State, and Nigerians at large.
