The All Progressives Congress (APC) has mourned the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as “an iconic patriot and a towering symbol of integrity.”
In a tribute released on Sunday, July 13, the ruling party said Buhari’s journey from the battlefield to the ballot box reshaped Nigeria’s democratic destiny.
According to the party, President Buhari was an enigma, a no-nonsense soldier who later became a soft-spoken democrat, and in 2015, made history by defeating an incumbent president.
”From leading the Petroleum Trust Fund to serving as military Head of State, and later as a two-term civilian President, Buhari’s life, APC noted, was anchored in simplicity, discipline, and patriotic service.
”His bold role in uniting opposition forces under the APC banner in 2013, the party added, redefined Nigeria’s political structure and laid the groundwork for lasting change.
The party also hailed his electoral triumph in 2015 as “a watershed moment in Nigeria’s democracy, and praised his legacy of democratic resilience despite his military background.
It expressed deep condolences to his family, President Bola Tinubu, the people of Katsina State, and Nigerians at large.
