Seven members of one family have died after eating a Hausa traditional food “Dambu” in Danbaza village of Maradun local government area of Zamfara State.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria, a member of the family who is among the survivors of the food poison, Mr Lawal Haruna said about twenty two members of the extended family ate the food “Dambu” (which was a mixture of Guinea Corn, vegetables and seasonings ingredients) and instantly showing signs of disorders including vomiting and diarrhea and consiquently six of them died on the day.

He noted that, the seventh person died the following morning (Tuesday) while others survived it.

“Those that died were two wives of my father and five of my juniors” he explained.

However, the sole administrator of Maradun local government council, Mr Umar Mu’azu has confirmed the incident saying his representatives have condoled the families on his behalf.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Information, Ibrahim Magaji Dosara has visited the affected family and condoled with them over the unfortunate incident and urged members of the general public to be careful of what they consumed.
