From Isma’il Adamu (Katsina)

The management of Federal University, Dutsinma in Katsina State has denied rumours making the rounds that armed bandits have attacked the institution and abducted some students.

Speaking to Radio Nigeria in a telephone interview, the Public Relations Officer of the university, Malam Habibu Matazu noted that there was no case of armed bandits attack on any of the campuses of the institution.

He explained that the university has adequate security personnel that include the military, police, Civil Defence corps and local vigilante that keep 24-hour vigil on the institution.

Matazu also noted that both campuses of the institution are fenced and under constant security surveillance while urging students, parents and guardians as well as the university community to disregard the rumours.

He urged residents of villages in the university vicinity to consider routine patrol by security operatives as a normal routine and a measure to safeguard them and members of the university community.
