Over one thousand youths across Kaduna State are to benefit from the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills project known as IDEAS being carried out by the Federal Ministry of Education powered by the World Bank.

The National Project Coordinator, Mrs Blessing Ogwu made this known during the flag- off ceremony of Cohort 2 of the IDEAS–Technical and Vocational Education and Training, TVET Initiative Training of Service Providers held in Kaduna.

Represented by the World Bank Environmental Consultant on the IDEAS–TVET Project, Dr. Marcus Idoko, the National Project Coordinator noted that the second phase of the IDEAS- TVET project would train over forty thousand youths across the country for a six month period in various skills acquisition.

According to her, thirteen Training Service Providers, TSP have been selected so far in Kaduna state to train about one hundred youths each in various technical skills, especially skills that will provide products that have commercial value.

Mrs Ogwu urged all Training Service Providers as well as the trainees to be serious with the training as there would be strict monitoring and evaluation during and after the program.

Also speaking, Dr. Akoh Salifu of Optimal Consults and Resource Development, who spoke on behalf of the Training Service Providers in Kaduna State appreciated the Federal Ministry of Education, the National Project Coordinator and her team as well as other partners for the opportunity.

In a remark the Rector, Kaduna State Polytechnic, Dr. Suleiman Umar represented by Dr. Abubakar Salihu stressed that equipping Nigeria Youths with relevant skills aside certificates have helped to bridge the unemployment gap in the country.

He commended the federal ministry of Education and IDEAS Project for chosen the polytechnic as the flagship of the event in Kaduna State.

The selected Training Service Providers are expected to train the youths in various skills, ranging from fishery, animal husbandry, construction, plumbing, tiling, electrical installation and digital skills.
