Kaduna State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Usman Shehu Bawa, has denied endorsing any other candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He described as false and misleading a statement circulating on social media claiming that governorship candidates of various political parties in the state had endorsed a particular candidate.

In a press statement by the spokesperson to the PDP governorship candidate, Yusuf Idris, said the claim was fabricated and urged members of the public to disregard it.

The spokesperson explained that governorship candidates of opposition parties in Kaduna State recently held a meeting where they reaffirmed their commitment to political freedom, inclusiveness and a credible electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the candidates expressed concern over what they described as the persecution of opposition figures and the shrinking space for alternative political voices under the current administration.

They also called for the protection of fundamental rights, political pluralism and a level playing field for all political parties participating in the forthcoming elections.

The opposition candidates further pledged to strengthen cooperation among their parties, promote peaceful political engagement and work towards ensuring free, fair and transparent elections that reflect the genuine wishes of the people of Kaduna State.

The statement stressed that neither Usman Shehu Bawa nor any of the other governorship candidates indicated interest in endorsing another candidate at the meeting.

It therefore urged the public to disregard the report, while cautioning those spreading misinformation to desist and embrace issue-based political campaigns.
