Governor Badaru Receives 60 Trained Medical Students From China

Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state has received sixty students that were sponsored by the state government to study medicine in China.

He received the students at government house Dutse, the state capital.

Alhaji Badaru Abubakar directed that, thirty two of the sixty beneficiaries who have completed their studies be employed immediately in the state civil service.

The students visited Badaru Abubakar to thank him for the support and opportunity his administration offered them in 2016 to study in China.

Also briefing newsmen, the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Health Dr Salisu Mu’azu said 28 beneficiaries are still undergoing medical certification processes in nigeria.

According to him, the state government in 2016 selected the sixty students meritoriously across the constituencies in the state and they have returned home after six years of extensive medical studies.

Dr salisu said, they have currently received thiry two of the sixty students who are certified medical doctors who have passed their prescribed examination and the medical and dental council screening examination in nigeria.

He further explained that, they are duly registered doctors with a licenses to practice in Nigeria. 

He said, the thirty two certified medical doctors have been posted to Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital in Dutse for a one year internship training before being dispatched to various health facilities in the state.

The Permanent secretary said besides the sixty returning medical students who graduated from the Chinese university, the state government also sponsored one hundred and sixty students to study various medical courses in Sudan last year, which according to him one hundred of them were women. 

Dr Salisu Mu’azu added that, the policy was aimed at producing manpower that will manage the newly constructed and upgrade primary and tertiary healthcare facilities in the state.
