Nigeria 7th Most Populated Country In The World – Governor Badaru

Jigawa state government says global statistical data had shown that presently, Nigeria is the 7th most populated country in the world.

Governor Badaru Abubakar disclosed this while declaring open stakeholders summit on 2023 digital National Population and Housing headcount held at Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall Dutse.

He explained that 2023 digital national population and housing census require adequate funding and man power to make it reliable, accurate and acceptable.

Alhaji Badaru Abubakar who was represented by the state Deputy Governor Mallam Umar Namadi pointed out that,  it was projected that Nigeria’s population will hit over 400 million by 2050 making it the third populous Nation in the world.

He said, the state government is ready to provide a favourable environment for the successful census exercise in the state.

In his speech, the state NPC commissioner Alhaji Abubakar Zakar pointed out that, births and deaths registration is a challenging factor in the conduct of the commission’s activities in Jigawa state.

He said the aim of the summit was to create awareness and prepare the minds of the stakeholders in view of the forthcoming census in Nigeria.

Radio Nigeria reports that, traditional and religious leaders, local government chairmen, civil society organizations, trade unions, media among others attended the summit.
