Qatari Government To Support Over 1,000 Orphans In Borno State

The Qatari Government has pledged to support about 1,000 children orphaned by the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State.

Qatari Ambassador to Nigeria Dr Ali Bn Ghanem Al-Hajari, made the pledge during the groundbreaking ceremony of a new primary school in Maiduguri.

He explained that Education is very critical to recovery of the state which was badly affected by the conflict.

The Ambassador who was accompanied by the Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum, emphasized that the edifice when completed with be equipped with modern facilities to enable the orphans learn in conducive environment.

” The Qatari government will provide essential support to about 1,000 orphans in Borno state, we will also key into Government initiative of providing a conducive learning environment for the children who are also victims of Boko Haram insurgency ” Ghanem said.

Ambassador Ali Bn Ghanem Al-Hajari and his entourage had earlier paid a courtesy visit to Governor Babagana Zulum at the Government House where he reinstated the commitment of his country to assist Borno state Government.

Governor Zulum expressed gratitude to the Qatari Government for the support and assured to provide the enabling environment.

The Governor had in January this year laid foundation for the construction of an orphanage centre constructed by the Qatar Charity Organisation.

The Ambassador was accompanied during the visit by his assistant, Mr Abdullah Hilal Alnuimi, and the Country Director of Qatar Charity, Hamdi Abdou.
