Over fifteen million Nigerians have benefited from the Federal Government’s National Social Investment Programmes.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouq stated this during presentation of the Ministry’s activities at the 23rd Edition of the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration’s Score Card, in Abuja.

Hajiya Sadiya-Umar noted that the NSIP programmes were all initiated by the Federal Government as part of intervention programme to cater for the welfare and well-being of vulnerable Nigerians.

She explained that 9,990,862 pupils are being fed in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); 185,919 persons are beneficiaries under GEEP; CCT has paid 1,940, 335 vulnerable persons N5,000 monthly, 3,098,600 million youths have benefitted from N-power programme, out of which one million are receiving N30,000 monthly stipend; and 355,000 persons have received grants of N20,000.

Hajiya Sadiya said some other remarkable achievements were the creation of the National Senior Citizens Centre and National Commission for Persons with Disabilities.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs said the ministry responded positively to the flood last year ensuring onward distribution of relief materials to victims across the country.  

“with respect to flood in 2022, we had distributed relief materials to 36 states of the Federation and the FCT and more assistance is still being provided to communities as well as to support rehabilitation and recovery “

Hajiya Sadiya reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to improve on the lives of Nigerians, protect human dignity and social inclusion, while the Ministry continues to carry out its mandate.
