The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Zamfara State, Alhaji Bilyaminu Yusuf Shinkafi, has pledged to prioritise security, restore peace and address the grievances of residents if elected governor in the 2027 general elections.

Shinkafi made the pledge during a campaign rally in Gusau, the state capital, where he outlined key areas of concern that he said would guide his proposed administration.

The ADC candidate identified insecurity as one of the major challenges confronting Zamfara State, stressing that restoring peace and protecting lives and property would be central to his administration’s agenda.

He sympathised with families affected by persistent security challenges across the state, acknowledging the loss of lives, displacement of residents and destruction of livelihoods resulting from attacks on communities.

Shinkafi said the situation had placed considerable hardship on affected families and communities, particularly farmers whose economic activities had been disrupted by insecurity.

According to him, lasting peace is essential to rebuilding affected communities, restoring public confidence, encouraging agricultural production and reviving economic activities across the state.

“The people of Zamfara deserve to live without constant fear. Restoring peace must be the foundation for rebuilding our communities, supporting our farmers and reviving economic activities,” he said.

Bilyaminu Shinkafi maintained that addressing insecurity would require a commitment to protecting residents and creating conditions that would enable communities to return to their normal social and economic activities.

The ADC governorship candidate also expressed concern over complaints by residents whose properties were reportedly demolished by the state government without compensation.

He promised to give attention to the grievances of affected residents if elected, saying their concerns would be considered under an ADC-led administration.

Shinkafi said government policies and actions should take into account their effects on citizens, particularly those who suffer losses or face difficulties as a result of official decisions.

He further expressed concern over the reported dismissal of thousands of workers by the state government, noting that such developments could have serious economic and social consequences for affected employees and their families.

The candidate pledged to address the concerns of the affected workers if elected governor, emphasising the need for responsible governance that considers workers’ welfare and the livelihoods of their dependants.

He said the welfare of workers and the protection of citizens’ interests should remain important considerations in the formulation and implementation of government policies.

“Governance should not be about exercising power without regard for the people. It should be about protecting their interests, addressing their grievances and creating opportunities for them to live with dignity,” Shinkafi said.

He urged the people of Zamfara State to support his governorship ambition in the 2027 elections, assuring them that his proposed administration would focus on security, the protection of livelihoods and the resolution of grievances affecting individuals and communities.

Shinkafi said his administration, if elected, would seek to respond to the concerns of residents and pursue policies aimed at improving their welfare and restoring confidence in governance.

The rally forms part of the ADC candidate’s political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, as political parties and aspirants seek to present their programmes and mobilise support across Zamfara State.
