Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Hamisu Chidari

Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Engineer Hamisu Chidari has reiterated the state government’s commitment in developing the health sector.

Engineer Chidari made the pledge while declaring open a sensitization workshop organized by the Kano State House of Assembly in collaboration with FCDO lafiya program, on basic health care provision fund for effective service delivery in Kano.

The speaker pointed out that the sensitization workshop was timely as there was the urgent need for effective service delivery to the poor and vulnerable.

Speaking during the occasion, officials of FCDO lafiya program, Malam Tijjani and Malam Garba Idris explained that the program was designed to partner with federal government and five selected states to capture effective health care service delivery.

They noted that, high maternal mortality and morbidity rate, unavailability of drugs at rural clinics, and unqualified health personnel as some of the problems bedevilling the country’s Health sector.

The sensitization workshop was attended by the members of the Kano State House of Assembly, officials of FCDO lafiya program, health personnel, stakeholders and the general public.
