Jigawa State Government has approved contracts worth over ₦550 million for key healthcare and nutrition interventions across the state.
The State Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed, disclosed this shortly after the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Dutse.
He said the approval covers two critical health-sector interventions, including the full-scale upgrade and revitalisation of the Samamiya Primary Health Centre in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.
According to him, the project is aimed at expanding access to healthcare, improving facility infrastructure and providing quality maternal and child health services to surrounding communities.
The Commissioner said the council also approved the procurement and distribution of 2,155 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition centres across all 27 local government areas of the state.
Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed said the two approvals demonstrate the present administration’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare delivery and tackling severe acute malnutrition among infants and vulnerable children.
He added that the interventions align with the administration’s 12-Point Agenda for building a healthy and prosperous Jigawa State.
