Kano: Warawa LG Gets 105 New Teachers

Majority Leader, Kano state House of Assembly, Alhaji Labaran Abdul Madari has appointed 105 temporary teachers for Warawa local government area, to boost education.

Speaking during presentation of letters to the newly recruited teachers, Alhaji Labaran Abdul Madari explained that the idea was initiated out of his desire to meet the required number of teachers, and reduce unemployment in Warawa community.

He highlighted that, he was part of the team that championed the introduction of free and compulsory education by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as such there was the urgent need to contribute his quota to the success of the policy.

Alhaji Labaran Abdul Madari, maintained that 37 blocks of classrooms and 11 toilets in primary, secondary and islamiyya schools, provision of learning and instructional materials, as well completion of girls secondary school Warawa among others have been provided.

“I want to assure you of my commitment to protect your interest in KNHA towards providing dividend of democracy, stipends will be paid to the teachers every month and follow up will be done to ensure they are absorbed by the state government as permanent and pensionable teacher’s”.

Earlier in his remarks, Kano state Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Ya’u Abdullahi Yan’shana, described the program as the first of it’s kind that would forever remain in history.

He stressed that Kano state was committed to the provision of free and compulsory education, and charged philanthropists and wealthy individuals to contribute their quota by employing teachers for their communities.

“I commend you for building schools, block of classrooms and employing 105 teachers and provision of motorcycles and vehicle for inspection”.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman, Kano State Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Danlami Hayyo reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to training and retraining of the new teachers to achieve the desired objectives.

The Executive Chairman, who was represented by Permanent Commissioner 1, Alhaji Kabiru Ahmed, noted that the intervention would go a long way in boosting basic education, as the educational sector needs such efforts from relevant stakeholders due to the state’s large population.

On the criteria used in selecting the teachers, Education Secretary Warawa local government area, who doubles as Sarkin malamai, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Idris pointed out that cluster sampling was used to select competent NCE holders, across 15 wards in Warawa local government area.

Some of the new teachers who spoke to Radio Nigeria, Rahama Mukhtar Adam, Murja Aliyu Adam, Rilwanu Sulaiman and Mustapha Yakubu Ado, commended the lawmaker for the opportunity and promised to discharge their duties diligently.

Radio Nigeria reports that 105 NCE holders were presented with employment letters, while Warawa Education Development Authority was presented with a Bus and five motorcycles for inspection.
