The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the full-time take off of new programmes at the Kwara State University, Malete, with effect from the 2026/2027 academic session.

 

The approval was contained in a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, dated June 19, 2026, and signed by NUC’s Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei.

 

In his reaction to the NUC approval, the Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, expressed excitement and congratulated the staff of the University who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the resource verification exercise by the regulatory agency.

 

He noted that the university would continue to sustain the excellence in teaching, research, and community development for which the institution is reputed, producing the excellent human capital resources needed to propel global development.

 

Fourteen of the programmes are at the undergraduate level, while ten are at the postgraduate level.
