Kebbi state government has confirmed 2 cases of Lassa fever out of 12 suspected cases from January 2020 to date. 

The state epidemiologist Dr, Assad Hassan made this known in an exclusive interview with Radio Nigeria in  Birnin Kebbi. 


Dr. Assad Hassan said the 2 patients are from Kalgo and Birnin Kebbi Local Government areas respectively while 9 of them tested negative and 1 still awaiting result.


He said there is no cause for alarm as Lassa fever is curable and the state government has provided all the necessary support to hospitals for effective service delivery.


Dr, Hassan further called on the people of the state to ensure they always visit the nearest health facility in case of any symptom not only Lassa fever.


He  advised people to desist from eating rodents as they are one of the major causes of the virus.
