Drug abuse has been identified as one of the causes of incessant security challenges facing the country.
The new NDLEA state commander, Sokoto state, Adamu Iro stated this at a courtesy call to Nigeria Union of Journalists Sokoto state Council.
The commander explained that criminals find it easy to commit Crime after taken illicit drugs which takes their senses while committing crime.
The commander argued that unless members of the society cooperate with the agency by giving them the needed information, the quest for ensuring drugs free society might be a mirage, stressing that all hands must be on deck towards achieving the desired objective in the country.
Adamu Iro assured the public that NDLEA will never reveal any source of information that leads to arrest of any suspect in the society.
The commander said the courtesy call was aimed at collaborating with the NUJ in the state in a bit to eradicating drugs abuse in Sokoto state.
Responding, the state chairman of the NUJ Comrade Dalhatu Abdullahi assured the commander that the Sokoto NUJ council is always ready to work with any agency that have direct bearing to the development of the society in the state.
Comrade Dalhatu added that drug abuse is a bottleneck problem that should concern any right thinking member of the society.
