About 1,000 local government workers in Kaduna State are expected to benefit from promotion exercises before the end of this year as the state government steps up efforts to improve staff welfare and efficiency in the local government service.

The Chairman of the Kaduna State Local Government Service Board, Professor Aminu Ladan Sharehu, disclosed this during an inspection of the promotion examination in Zaria.

He said the examination was being conducted across the state’s three zones, describing the exercise as part of Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to improving staff welfare and creating a conducive working environment.

Professor Sharehu urged local government workers to reciprocate the government’s efforts through dedication, punctuality and improved service delivery.

He said the board had been working with local government chairmen and other stakeholders to improve working conditions and strengthen the performance of the local government workforce.

The chairman also urged workers to embrace greater responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to addressing emerging challenges in local government administration.

Some of the workers who spoke with journalists expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination, describing the promotion exercise as a motivation to improve their performance.
