On-air staff of Radio Nigeria Companion FM, Katsina, have undergone a one-month intensive training on best practice in presentation, production, studio management, news reporting and editing, and current affairs programs’ packaging.

The station’s General Manager, Dr. Musa Idris, who conducted the training, noted that the capacity building was aimed at enhancing the quality of broadcast to maintain the station’s top position among broadcast stations in the state.

He explained that the training was in line with Radio Nigeria’s policy of routine capacity building for its staff to maintain its pedigree as the largest and the most reliable radio network in Africa.

The General Manager said the training exposed reporters, editors, producers, presenters, and Duty Continuity Announcers (DCAs) to best practices in their respective lines of duty in order to keep their broadcast qualitative and professional.

Dr. Idris said the training was one in a series as the station will continue to enhance the capacity of staff members to maintain the competitive advantage of Radio Nigeria Companion FM in terms of listenership and reliability in the state.

Speaking on the training received by editors, producers and reporters in his department, the Head of News and Current Affairs of the station, Rabe Ali-Ja, said the capacity building has already started reflecting in the quality of news bulletins being produced by the department.

Three editors, Sadiq Garba Abubakar, Zainab Abubakar Lamurde and Aisha Ibrahim ‘Yantaba said the training has greatly enhanced their news judgment and linguistic as well as technical skills.

Meanwhile, listeners of Radio Nigeria Companion FM Katsina across the state have commended the station for its excellence in state-wide and community broadcasting, and the new management for stepping up the standard in quality broadcast service delivery.
