The Sokoto State Government has approved a virement of five hundred and twenty six billion naira in the 2025 budget.

Presiding over the 12th Regular Executive Council Meeting for the year, Governor Ahmed Aliyu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a more economically vibrant Sokoto through key reforms and development initiatives.

Governor Aliyu explained that the budget reallocation was designed to strengthen investment in critical infrastructure, essential services, and operational efficiency without increasing the overall budget size.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Aminu Iya, said the virement would focus on funding capital projects that directly impact the lives of people in Sokoto State.

According to him, the Council approved several key projects, including: Construction of a workshop for the Sokoto State Transport Authority and Allocation of over seventy five million naira for the maintenance of state-owned transport vehicles and Purchase of operational vehicles for the Ministry of Finance.

In the education sector, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof.adan Ahmad Ala, announced the approval of nine hundred and thirty million naira for the procurement of fifteen thousand tables and chairs for basic and secondary school in the state.
