A Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin has remanded an 83-year-old All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Illiasu Ibrahim, alongside Mallam Shola Muse and Adesemowo “Ade Gogo” Suleiman, over alleged defamatory remarks against the elder brother of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
The presiding judge, Justice E. Mohammed, ordered that the defendants be held in Oke-Kura correctional facility after they appeared before the court for arraignment on a 3-count criminal charges filed by the Kwara State Government.
The trio are accused of making derogatory and allegedly false claims against the Mutawali of Ilorin, Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq, during a programme aired on local radio in the state.
According to the charge sheet dated December 17, 2025, and signed by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Ayoola Akande, the defendants allegedly made statements capable of inciting the public against Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Justice Mohammed however ordered adjournment of the matter to April 25, 2026, for further hearing.
