Pensioners of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Kaduna have expressed delight over the support of protests by retired workers, demanding payment of their entitlements from the Federal Government.
The senior citizens made this known in reaction to plans by the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to join the protests if, after one week, the Federal Authorities fail to resolve the crisis.
One of the retirees, Alhaji Muktari Muhammad Katsina, emphasized that the support of the NLC was crucial to achieving the desired objectives and called on stakeholders to contribute their quota to ensure the success of the struggle.
Alhaji Muktari Muhammad stressed the need for the relevant authorities, particularly the Federal Ministry of Finance and the office of the Accountant General of the Federation to abide by the presidential directive on the issue to alleviate sufferings of the pensioners.
The retirees also called on all senior citizens to insist on settlement of their benefits to justify national sacrifice in the interest of justice and fairness expected in a democracy.
