Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy-NDA, Major General Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim has underscored the importance of adaptability, discipline and professionalism in military leadership.

In a statement by the Academy’s Public Relations Officer Major Mohammed Maidawa, the Commandant stated this when he paid a mentorship and motivation visit to the citizenship and leadership training center, mountain school, Shere hills in Plateau State.

Major General Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim highlighted the NDA’s commitment to nurturing a new generation of officers equipped to lead with distinction.

According to the statement, the purpose of the visit was to assess and encourage the Army cadets of seventy-two regular course and short service course forty-eight, who arr currently undergoing their final leadership and adventure training.

The training, which is part of the intensive outdoor practical codenamed Exercise CAMP HIGHLAND, is tailored to sharpen their leadership and operational skills, as well as the resilience of the cadets, holding between the first to fifth of August this year.

The statement explains that the cadets engaged in a variety of demanding modules such as the gog and magog rock climbing and abseiling challenge, high adrenaline rafting drills and practice parachute jumps, all aimed at building confidence and courage.

They also navigated complex assault courses, undertook compound orienteering and map work exercises, and were tested on their initiative with scenario based trials that promote critical thinking and quick decision-making.

The statement notes that the cadets also received insightful lectures on time management, leadership and responsibility, as well as fire prevention and control, ensuring they are well rounded and prepared for the diverse demands of military service.

The statement adds that prior to their arrival at Shere hills, the cadets successfully completed the map reading phase of Exercise CAMP HIGHLAND at the Nigerian Army Military Training Area in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State, further honing their navigation, teamwork and fieldcraft skills.
