The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, FRCN Kaduna Chapel, has appealed to the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, to confirm Hajiya Farida Abubakar as the substantive Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation KSMC.

In a press release signed by the Chapel Chairman, Comrade Umar Adamu Sarkinfada, the union commended Governor Uba Sani for entrusting media professionals with leadership roles, particularly the recent appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki as Commissioner of Information.

Following Maiyaki’s appointment, Hajiya Farida Abubakar, who previously served as Executive Director, Radio Services, has been overseeing the KSMC in an acting capacity.

The NUJ described her leadership as transformational, noting that she has brought professionalism, stability, and renewed purpose to the state-owned media outfit.

The statement added that her commitment to staff coordination, peace-building, and institutional development reflects the values of Governor Uba Sani’s administration.

The union emphasized that confirming her as substantive Managing Director would ensure continuity of reform, promote merit-based appointments, and further support gender equity in government leadership.

The NUJ FRCN Kaduna Chapel also reiterated its support for the Uba Sani administration and called for deeper collaboration between the government and professional journalists across Kaduna State.
