The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bold economic decisions, describing the removal of fuel subsidy and unification of exchange rates as “courageous and long overdue.”
Speaking at an interactive session of northern leaders in Kaduna, Governor Yahaya said the reforms demonstrate strong political will aimed at steering Nigeria toward economic stability and sustainable development.
“While acknowledging the pain caused by the reforms, Governor Yahaya urged Nigerians to remain patient and resilient, adding that leadership sometimes requires difficult decisions for long-term national gain.”
He called on citizens to support the Federal Government’s efforts by staying hopeful and engaged.
Also speaking at the event, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, applauded the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration, describing it as “a practical blueprint for national rebirth.”
“Akume noted that the agenda is anchored on equity, good governance, transparency, and citizen inclusion, stressing that the government is committed to delivering tangible results.”
The SGF further highlighted the administration’s focus on eight priority areas including economic growth, infrastructure, education, agriculture, and security.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, who hosted the gathering, also praised President Tinubu for prioritizing national security and addressing the socioeconomic challenges affecting Northern Nigeria.
“He described the interactive session as timely and vital for bridging the gap between government and citizens.”
Former Niger State Governor and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, reflected on the region’s challenges, pointing to insecurity, inflation, out-of-school children, and unemployment as pressing issues.
He criticized the elite and political class for failing in their responsibilities and called for honest engagement and shared accountability.
The high-profile meeting attracted key government officials including the Ministers of Information and National Orientation, Livestock Development, and Defense, as well as the National Security Adviser and the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
The two-day event served as a platform for robust dialogue and collective reflection, drawing participation from regional leaders, policy experts, civil society, and the general public.
