Legendary professional wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer, Hulk Hogan, has passed away.
His representative, Linda Bose, confirmed the news in a statement to CBS News, saying, “Unfortunately, we must confirm that Terry Bollea, aka Hulk Hogan, passed away this morning.
We are heartbroken. He was such a great human being and friend.”
Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, rose to fame in the 1980s and became one of the most iconic figures in wrestling history.
He was a central figure in the rise of WWE’s flagship event, WrestleMania, headlining the inaugural edition in 1985 and returning for numerous showdowns, including his unforgettable match against The Rock in 2002.
One of his most memorable moments came at WrestleMania V, when he defeated former tag team partner Macho Man Randy Savage in what was billed as “The Mega Powers Explode.”
Though he lost to the Ultimate Warrior in a historic title-for-title match at WrestleMania VI the following year, Hogan remained a dominant force in wrestling.
His last official WWE match was at SummerSlam in 2006, where he defeated Randy Orton, known then as “The Legend Killer.”
Hogan leaves behind a powerful legacy in sports entertainment, with fans and fellow wrestlers around the world paying tribute to his charisma, unmatched presence, and contributions to professional wrestling.
He was 70 years old.
