Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the Federal Mortgage Bank (FMBN) to address the state’s housing deficit.

The State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf disclosed this during a meeting with the Managing Director of FMBN, Alhaji Shehu Usman Osidi at his office, in Kano.

Governor Yusuf emphasized the importance of the partnership, citing Kano’s strategic position as the second most populous state in Nigeria, with a rapidly growing population.

“Kano State Government has always been at the forefront of development, and housing is a critical aspect of growth. We recognize the importance of accessible and affordable housing in enhancing the quality of life of our citizens”

The Managing Director of FMBN, Alhaji Shehu Usman Osidi, expressed the bank’s mission to assist Nigerians, particularly lower and middle-income earners, in acquiring affordable and decent houses.

He commended Kano State Government for rejoining the National Housing Fund Scheme, describing it as “a testament of responsive governance and dedication to improving the welfare of workers”.

Osidi highlighted FMBN’s existing investments in Kano, including 10 housing projects worth N6.8 billion, aimed at solving the state’s shelter deficit.

He assured the bank’s readiness for stronger collaboration with Kano State Government to achieve their shared goals.

“Kano State rejoined the National Housing Fund Scheme in January 2025, after withdrawing in 2002. This partnership is expected to provide affordable housing solutions for civil servants and enhance their welfare.”
