A coalition of political analysts and democracy protectors has urged the Supreme Court of Nigeria to expedite action on the Kano Emirate dispute.

The Coalition of Political Analysts Forum, Democracy Protectors and Good Governance, in a press briefing expressed concern over the prolonged nature of the dispute and its potential to create chaos and polarization in Kano State.

The coalition, led by Executive Director, Comrade Al-Amin Albarra and National Secretary, Malam Saminu Abubakar, called on the Supreme Court to use its wise counsel to determine the legal powers of creating traditional institutions in Nigeria’s democratic setting.

They noted that the dispute has been ongoing for over a year and has the potential to escalate into a full-blown crisis if not resolved promptly.

The coalition expressed concern over the polarization of the people of Kano State along ethnic and divided loyalty, which could lead to misunderstanding and tension.

They urged the Supreme Court to take into account the potential consequences of a prolonged dispute and to act swiftly to resolve the matter.

The coalition noted that the dispute is a constitutional matter that requires a clear and authoritative ruling from the Supreme Court.

They emphasized that the court’s decision would provide clarity and certainty on the legal implications of the dispute and would help to prevent future conflicts.
