The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Sokoto, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, has emphasized that teamwork is essential for effective combat operations.
Ajose, who also serves as the Commander of Sector 2, Operation Hadarin Daji, made this statement at the closing ceremony of a five-day Operations Planning Cadre held in Sokoto State.
Represented by the Chief of Staff, 8 Division Headquarters, Brigadier General Abubakar Suru, Ajose urged participants to apply the knowledge gained, particularly in implementing strategic leadership skills and maintaining professionalism in their respective formations.
He expressed confidence that the training had equipped participants with essential operational planning and problem-solving skills, highlighting their crucial role in shaping security operations’ outcomes.
Ajose further explained that effectively countering evolving threats relies on leadership, decision-making, and coordination among frontline officers conducting military operations.
The GOC stated that the training and shared experiences had provided officers with the necessary expertise to lead effectively in combating insurgency.
According to him, the initiative aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s vision of developing a cadre of officers with enhanced knowledge, skills, and professionalism in addressing security challenges.
He advised participants to conduct periodic reviews of past operations to ensure continuous improvement and future successes.
Radio Nigeria reports that the training participants included personnel from other security agencies, fostering inter-agency collaboration to achieve common security objectives.
