NSCDC Calls for Harmonious Working Relationship with Media

The Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp Niger state command Ahmed Mohammed Dandare has called for collective effort between Security Agencies Journalists and other critical stakeholders to effectively tackle the problem of cattle rustling armed banditry and kidnappings in parts of the state.

The Commandant made call when he visited Chairman of the Niger state council of Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Comrade Abu Nmodu on a solidarity visit at the IBB Pen House Minna.

Commandant Ahmed Mohammed Dandare maintained that the fight against insurgency required collective effort by all and sundry in the state to succeed stressing that security agencies alone cannot do it.

He however described the existing synergy and collaboration between security agencies in Niger state as suberb which he said had been yeilding positive results.

Commandant Ahmed Mohammed Dandare however applauded members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Niger state Council for the cordial relationship existing between them and his predicessor and expressed hope that similar gesture will be extended to him during his tenure to succeed.

He said protecting critical government asssets as well as lives and properties of Nigerlites remained part of their core mandate which can only be achieved through collective efforts.

In his response Chairman Niger state Council of NUJ Comrade Abu Nmodu who assured the Commandant of members support at all times also asked him to educate his officers and men to take media as their friends to avoid problem of molestation at any slightest misunderstsnding.

Comrade Abu Nmodu added that Journalists in Niger state are professionals and will continue to operate within the confines of the ethics of their profession without fear or favour.
