Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency-NDLEA says it has arrested a Toyota hiace vehicle with fifteen sacks of codeine syrup concealed under some soft drinks and beer at a stop and search motorized patrol check point.
Spokesperson of the agency in the state Maijama’a Abdullahi stated this while briefing newsmen in Kaduna.
Mr Maijama’a Abdullahi explained that the driver of the vehicle-one Chinedu Asogwu confessed that the items were loaded from Onitsha market to Kaduna as its final destination.
The spokesperson noted that the value of the items stood at two thousand nine hundred and nineteen bottles of codeine syrup weighing three hundred and ninety-six kg with a street value of ten point five million naira.
Similarly, the command has, from the first of April this year arrested seventy-three suspects, and substances such as cannabis sativa, cocaine, tramadol among others, with a grand total of over two thousand, one hundred and ninety-seven kg.
