The Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs has successfully reunited a child with his biological parents after ten years of separation, bringing an emotional closure to a decade-long ordeal.

The reunion ceremony was held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Kano and overseen by the Commissioner, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani.

The child, identified as Musa, had been living in Dawanau under Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, while his family of origin is from Gwagwalada.

His reunion followed a thorough and carefully coordinated process involving traditional authorities, officials of Dawakin Tofa Local Government, and the family who had been caring for him during his years of separation.

The Ministry confirmed that all necessary investigations and verification procedures were conducted to ensure Musa’s identity was accurately confirmed and that the process adhered strictly to due process before the reunion.

Accompanied by Ministry officials and local government representatives, Musa was escorted back to his hometown, where he was formally received by his father, mother, and close relatives.

In her remarks, Commissioner Hajiya Sani stressed the importance of parental responsibility and vigilance.

She urged caregivers, particularly mothers, to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of their children and warned against negligence.

The Commissioner also reiterated the state government’s commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of children across Kano State.

In recognition of the woman who had cared for Musa during his years of separation, the Ministry empowered her as a gesture of appreciation for her cooperation and support throughout the investigation and reunification process.

Speaking at the event, the District Head of Gwagwalada, Musa Tanko Awaje, commended the Ministry and other authorities for their diligence, transparency, and thorough investigative work that led to the successful reunion.
