An unidentified gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped the wife of an ex councillor, a nursing mother and her eight months old baby in Damba, the outskirt of Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

The ex councillor, Babangida Ibrahim Damba said he sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds in the process of trying to save his wife and child.

Bababgida Damba also explained that the incident occurred when the armed bandits stormed the Damba low-cost housing estate in Gusau, the state capital.

They allegedly shot sporadically in the air making residents scamper for safety.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to Radio Nigeria under anonymity, said the criminals forced their way into the residence of Babangida Damba and shot him in the hand while his wife and their eight months old baby were taken away.

When Radio Nigeria contacted, the state Police Command’s Spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu confirmed the incident.

He, however, said that armed troops of the command have been deployed to trail the kidnappers and to ensure the possible rescue of the nursing mother and her eight months old child.
