IGP Attends World UN Police Chiefs Summit

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali-Baba has called on the United Nations to make policies that will promote sustainable peace and development amongst its member nations.

The IGP made the call at the 3rd United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS) in the United States of America, where he spoke on the theme: ”Fostering Sustainable Peace and Development through United Nations Policing”.

In a statement, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the event provided a platform to discuss ways of strengthening global security and addressing cross-border threats through the unifying power of national and United Nations policing.

The IGP also urged the UN to continue to render necessary assistance towards improving policing systems across the globe.

Usman Alkali-Baba who said the Police was committed to extending its manpower for effective peace operations where necessary assured Nigerians of his commitment to harnessing all available means, both kinetic and non-kinetic, to curb crime and criminality in the country.
