Zamfara Police Urges Residents To Respect New Security Measures

Zamfara State Police Command says it will not tolerate any attempt by any person or group to contravene new security measures taken by the state government.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba Elkana who made this known during a press briefing, at the Police Headquarters in Gusau said the new security measures were not politically motivated, but for the best interest of the State.

CP Elkana noted that the Command will on Monday 30th August, constitute a Joint Taskforce to ensure full enforcement of the directives.

He explained that, the state government and security agencies were very serious in their quest to end the lingering security challenges in the State, as such he warned that, police were fully committed to ensure full wrath of the law is applied to offenders.

Elkana therefore highlighted the 7 measures taken by the State government to include; Indefinite closure of all weekly markets across the State; No Sell of Petrol in Jerri-cans; No movement of motorcycles/Keke Napep in Gusau from 8pm – 6am, while in the other local governments from 6pm – 6am.

Others were, All filling stations not to sell Petrol of more than N10,000 to Commercial vehicles; Suspending of Livestock transportation outside the State, those coming to the State must undergo thorough investigation and No motorcycle will carry more than two person at a time.

CP Ayuba Elkana therefore called on the people of the State to remain law abiding and collaborate with security agencies in ensuring restoration of peace and security in the State.
