The Kwara State Government has distributed learning materials to one hundred and twenty-seven (127) newly admitted students of Government Technical College, Ilorin for 2025/2026 academic session,

 

Speaking during the distribution of the learning materials in Ilorin, the state Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, said the intervention was funded by the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Education in partnership with the Kwara State Ministry of Education .

 

Dr. Olohungbebe, who was represented by the Director, Human Capital Development, Victoria Ajide, said the materials would improve learning, support practical training as well as prepare students with skills required for employment, entrepreneurship and national development.

 

According to him , the intervention reflected the state government commitment to developing skilled manpower through sustained investment in technical and vocational education,

 

In his remarks,  the Principal of the College, Mr. Sulaiman Abdulrafiu, described the intervention as the first of its kind in the institution and a major boost to teaching.

 

He thanked the state government for facilitating the programme, while commending the federal government for supporting technical education in Kwara State.

 

In his comment on behalf of the parents, Mallam Hadi Asileke, described the intervention as timely and beneficial to students pursuing technical and vocational education.

 

He urged the beneficiaries to use the materials responsibly and appealed for improved workshops, classrooms and modern equipment to strengthen practical training.

 

Each beneficiary received uniforms, workshop kits, identity cards, textbooks, exercise books, drawing materials, calculators, mathematical sets and refunded Parent Teacher Association charges.
