The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has arrested 38 suspects during a two-day raid operation carried out across major drug hotspots within the Kano metropolis ahead of the Eid al-Kabir celebrations.

The Public Relations Officer of the agency in Kano, ASC Sadiq Maigatari disclosed this to journalists in Kano.

He said the operation, conducted under the agency’s ongoing “Operation Sharar Mafaka” and led by the Commander of the Kano Strategic Command, Commandant Dahiru Lawal, targeted areas including Fagge, Filin Idi, Gyadi Gyadi, Hotoro, Tashar Rami, Audu Bako Secretariat, Hauren Gadagi, Kofar Mata, Sheka, and Farm Center.

He said operatives recovered assorted illicit substances and locally made weapons during the raids.

Items seized included cannabis sativa, Exol-5, diazepam, “Suck and Die,” rubber solution, and other prohibited substances.

Speaking on the operation, Commandant Dahiru Lawal said the command intensified enforcement activities ahead of the Sallah celebrations to prevent criminal elements from exploiting festive gatherings to promote drug abuse and other illegal activities.

He added that the operation would continue until the streets are made safer for residents.

The agency stated that the operation was in line with the directive of the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Buba Marwa, to ensure safer communities across the country.
