Coalition of Federal Government Pensioners has warned against unnecessary delay in the payment of arrears owed retirees over the years.

Members of the coalition in various comments described such delay as unacceptable considering promises made by the relevant authorities in the past to address grievances of the senior citizens.

They expressed the hope that the Ministry of Finance, office of the Accountant General of the Federation would affect the payment this month to avoid further protests.

Miss Dupe Akindele, Maliki Aruna, and Pius Aneke emphasized the need for effective nationwide mobilization of retirees to resist continued mistreatment by the Federal Government, and expressed delight over the turnout of members during the recent protest in Lagos and Abuja.

They expressed dismay over alleged nonchalant attitude of stakeholders towards settlement of outstanding benefits of retired workers despite provision of funds for the exercise to justify their National sacrifice.
