The remains of former Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, have been laid to rest at his residence in Daura.

The internment followed a funeral prayers led by the Chief Imam of Daura, Sheikh Hassan Yusuf, at an open field near the deceased’s residence.

Shortly after the funeral prayers, the Chief Imam and the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, made supplications for the repose of the soul of the late former President.

Many diplomats, federal and state lawmakers, state governors, ministers, business moguls, and captains of industry from all parts of the country were in Daura to pay their last respects to the former two-time Nigerian leader.

Our correspondents report that a mammoth crowd of sympathizers has blocked all roads leading to and from Daura, particularly along Maiadua road, the country home of the late former Nigerian leader.

Earlier, President Tinubu, the President of Guinea Bissau and the Nigerien Prime Minister received the remains of late Muhammadu Buhari upon arrival from London at the Umaru Musa Yaradua International Airport in Katsina.
